Jason D. Hexamer, 51, of Washington, IL, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 27, 2023. He was born on October 18, 1972, in Peoria. He is the son of Robert and Jeanette Wurster Hexamer.
Surviving are his parents, two brothers, David (Amy) Hexamer and Scott Hexamer, all of Washington, and one sister, Michelle (Scott) Whitby of Peoria. Also surviving are his nieces and nephews, Emma, Addison, Kelsey, Stephanie, Jesse, Cody, Kallie, Caleb, and Chloe.
His maternal and paternal grandparents and one infant nephew Brock all preceded him in death.
Jason was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Navy. His service on the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz instilled in him a sense of discipline and pride that he carried throughout his life. He was a dedicated yard associate at R.P. Lumber in Washington for over 20 years, never missing a single day of work, a testament to his remarkable dedication.
Jason was a man of many interests, but he found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid metal detectorist, often found sweeping the local areas, his eyes alight with the thrill of discovery. Every Saturday night, without fail, Jason could be found beside a crackling bonfire, the flames reflecting the kind and friendly spirit that he was known for.
Those who knew Jason would describe him as the epitome of kindness, always ready with a helping hand or a friendly smile. His handy nature was a skill and a way of connecting with others, offering his talents wherever needed. Jason's legacy is of unwavering reliability, genuine warmth, and a life of service to his country and work.
While there will be no public services, Jason's family will privately celebrate his life. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial in his name may be given to the Washington Rescue Squad. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington is assisting his family with arrangements. His family invites you to visit www.masonfuneralhomes.com to share a memory or send a condolence.
