Jason A. Liniger, 41, of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.
Jason was born on September 21, 1982 in Galesburg. He was the son of William and Marjorie (Myers) Liniger. He was a 2001 graduate of Warren High School. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from Monmouth College in 2005. He worked for Dick Blick as a warehouse manager for 13 years. He then went on to work for Smithfield as an equipment operator for the last year.
Surviving Jason are his siblings, Eric Liniger of Cameron and Amber (Mitchell) Pakosz of Roseville; his beloved dog, Joaquin; aunts and uncles, Jan Duke of Galesburg, Dave (Valerie Henning) Liniger of Knoxville, Sandra (Fred) Klopp of Pennsylvania; cousins, Aaron (Dara) Duke of Galesburg, Jamie Duke of Iowa, Sarah Liniger and Daniel Liniger of Knoxville, Robert Purchase of Monmouth, along with several other extended family members and several close friends that were like family including: Dustin Kenney, Steve Oaks, Dale Crooks, Eric Crooks, Jason Fancher and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Ernestine Myers, Joyce and Herman Liniger and cousin, Brian Purchase.
Jason was an avid sports fan. He diligently followed the Patriots, Red Wings, Dodgers, Florida State and would travel to watch the professional and local teams. He loved BBQing and smoking meats on his smoker. Jason was a huge rock music fan, especially Metallica and Clutch. Jason also had many adventures finding collectibles, such as vinyl records, comic books, sports memorabilia, Transformers and Funko Pop figures and weird “B” rated horror movies. Jason was always true to himself, honest to a fault and very blunt when it came to the facts of life. He felt loyalty and “being real” were the most important traits for friendship. Jason was very loved and will be missed by many.
