Jason “JJ” Ryan McDonald, Jr. 23, died July 25, 2025. He was one of a kind, always smiling and making jokes and making sure everyone was ok. He lived a short life but was an old soul. He loved his family very much, always wanting to get together to do something, such as riding four wheelers or playing cards. He was the life of the party. He loved playing baseball, softball, and golfing. “JJ” could play any sport he tried. He was a loving son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson and a friend to everyone.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his mother and father, Teresa and Jason McDonald of Wallace, SC, a sister, Jasmine (Tommy T.) McDonald of Wallace, SC, uncles, Justin McDonald of Wallace, SC, Jonathan (Sherry) McDonald of Wallace, SC, an aunt, Trina (Ian) Gaskins of Wallace, SC, great uncle, Darrell Knight of Wallace, SC, great aunt, Reba (Doug) Jenkins of Wallace, SC, grandfather, Johnny McDonald of Wallace, SC, cousins/brothers, Tristin McDonald, Austin Gaskins, and Eli Gaskins of Wallace, SC and a host of additional friends. Also, close friends, Tanner Cheek of Florence, SC, Zach Rogers of Darlington, SC, a special friend, Ariana Cooper of Locus, NC and two, four-legged fur babies, Cujo and Zeus.
He was preceded in death by his MeMa, Vera Christine Knight McDonald.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025 at Cheraw First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Wallace, SC.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2024 at Cheraw First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.
