Jason Eugene Powell

Mr. Jason Eugene Powell, 73, of Drexel, went home to be with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Blue Ridge Health Care Morganton, following a courageous battle with cancer. Jason was born April 5, 1945, in Burke County to the late Joel L. Powell and Iva E. Michaels Powell. He loved music, playing the guitar and singing with his family, tending to their mini farm, fishing, hunting, and being an all around good handyman, painter and mechanic. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan David Robertson; brother Joel L. Powell Jr.; brother-in-laws, John Spewachek and Fred Hardin. He is survived by his daughters, Rebekah Ann Loftis and husband Mike, Iva Regina Robertson, and Tamela Beth Carpenter and husband Rick; grandchildren, Kristin Carpenter Bryant and husband Zack, Jason Robertson, Elizabeth Loftis, Philip Loftis and wife Courtney, and Sarah Robertson Her and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Karis Bryant, Ezra Bryant, and Atreyu Her; brothers, Thomas James Powell, Michael Lee Powell and wife Beverly, William David Powell; sisters, Martha Edna Powell Hardin, and Mary Ellen Powell Spewachek; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, with Rev. Zack Bryant officiating.
