Mr. Jason Levin Purdy, 54, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born August 22, 1970 in Oxford to Luke Purdy and Ora Mae Collins. Jason was a graduate of Calhoun Academy and earned a Bachelors Degree in Education from Delta State University. Jason enriched the lives of many children during his teaching career at both Coffeeville and Water Valley schools. In addition to his time in the classroom, he coached girls basketball at Coffeeville and later coached girls and boys basketball at Water Valley High School. Jason was a faithful and devoted member of the Coffeeville Church of Christ and served in numerous capacities through the years. A professional fisherman, Jason enjoyed fishing and taking his boat out at every opportunity. Jason also enjoyed firing up the grill and spending time with his family. While Jason held many titles through the years, the title he loved most was being "Grumpy" to his first granddaughter, Wrenleigh.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at the Coffeeville Church of Christ with Bro. Don Roberson officiating. Jason will be laid to rest in the Purdy family plot in the Coffeeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Tuesday at the Coffeeville Church of Christ.
