Jay Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marsh Funeral Chapel - Marlette on Mar. 27, 2026.
Jay Darrell Brown, 63, of Marlette, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026.

Jay was born on April 14, 1962 in Marlette, Michigan to the late Jay and Marjorie (Davis) Brown. He attended Marlette High School, graduating with the Class of 1980. Jay worked for Tesco Engineering building machines for all of the Big 3. For at least 15 years, if there was a problem, he was the man they called. He was also the owner and operator of a chimney cleaning business for years. Jay enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the casino. He loved roller coasters - the faster the better. He thought everyone needed to ride along. Jay also liked speeding down the road on either a snowmobile or four-wheeler. He also enjoyed watching horror movies and going blueberry picking in the UP near Cedarville.

Jay is survived by his children, Anthony (Amy) Brown and Caitlyn (Ken) Plotzke; significant other, Joyce Neil; siblings, Kim Freyaldenhoven and Pamela (Gary) McClelland; many nieces and nephews and his fur baby, Daisy.

Jay was preceded in death by parents, Jay and Marjorie (Davis) Brown; siblings, Jeffrey Brown, Duane Brown, Karen Brown, Rodney Brown, Terry Brown, and Penny Brown; brother-in-law, Clarence Freyaldenhoven; cousin and best friend, Bryan Brown; and his other fur baby, Miss Kitty.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to your local animal shelter.
