Marion, Indiana
Jay Allen Davidson, 82, Marion, passed away in his home at 12:45 pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. A lifelong resident of Marion, Jay was born on Saturday, May 10, 1941, to Clarence and Mildred (Russell) Davidson. On May 29, 1971, he married the love of his life, Paula Kay Winn, and she preceded him in death on December 7, 2020.
Jay was a graduate of Marion High School. He worked at Indiana Bell as a lineman and retired in 1999 after 35 years of service. Anyone acquainted with Jay knew that he was always into something. He was an instructor/trainer with AARP, enjoyed playing golf, and his most recent project was volunteering to help raise funds towards the installation of scoreboards for Marion Babe Ruth Baseball. The installation will hopefully be completed in the spring of 2024.
Jay adored his family, and he loved spending time with them, especially attending the events and activities of his grandchildren. Friends and church family say he was a very humble man, never wanting to be recognized for the things he had done. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle (Roy) Griggs of Smyrna, TN, and Lisa Cain of Marion; son, Mark (Sarah) Davidson of Palatine Bridge, NY; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melinda Marshall; and son-in-law, Mike Cain.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jay's life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Tim Witte officiating. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Marion Babe Ruth Baseball, 2104 Morrow Rd., Marion, IN 46952.
