Jay Michael Lenore, 72, of Athens, GA died on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Jay was born in Alhambra, California, to John and Dorothy Lenore on October 15, 1952.
Jay lived 67 of his 72 years in southern California. As a child growing up in an Italian family in Fontana, CA, Jay spent his time memorizing sports statistics and honing his skills in Little League as a pitcher. As his father became more successful in business, the family moved to San Diego, where his father founded John Lenore & Company, where Jay would later work for the entirety of his working life. Jay detoured from California briefly to graduate from the University of Arizona, where he met Kim, his ex-wife and mother of his only child, Kristin. In 1990, Jay met the love of his life, Lynda, and they spent the next thirty years enjoying the simple things in life, such as gardening and religiously filling out the Word Jumble in the San Diego Tribune. In 2020, when Lynda passed, Jay moved to Georgia, where he discovered a church he really enjoyed, 12Stone, as well as the wonders of shopping at Publix.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lynda, his parents, John and Dorothy, and his sister Pamela Tobias.
He is survived by daughter Kristin Lenore Marrs and her husband Cody of Athens, GA, and his brother, Jamie Lenore and his wife Michelle of San Diego, CA. Jay is also survived by his two grandchildren, Harper and Caleb Marrs of Athens, GA.
The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 pm on Saturday, May 10, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home located at 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road in Watkinsville. Interment will occur at a later date at Singing Hills Memorial Park in El Cajon, CA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to 12Stone Church or St Jude Children's Research Hospital are suggested.
