Jay is survived by his daughters Debra (Joe) McCormick of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Mary (Hutch) Hutchinson of New Ulm, Minnesota, and his sons Jeff (Pam) Marti of Olympia, Washington and John (Elke) Marti of Eagan, Minnesota. Jay is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Marilyn Marti, his parents Jacob and Pearl Marti of Mason City, Iowa, and his brother Milton, brother Curt, and sister Bernice.
Jay was born August 22, 1931 in Mason City, IA. After graduating from Mason City High School, he attended Iowa State University playing football and earning a degree in Industrial Engineering. After an enlistment in the Army, Jay spent most of his career working for 3M in New Ulm and for a short while in Austin, Texas. Jay retired from 3M in 1993 and Jay and Marilyn returned to New Ulm, which they considered home and where they spent time with their many friends. Jay was a quiet man who enjoyed conversation with friends and family over a cold beer or cup of coffee, backpacking with the boys in Wyoming, and watching his son-in-law (Hutch) fix things. Jay really loved his family.
Jay's family is very grateful for the kind, patient and thoughtful care provided by the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Eagan in Jay's last year.
