Jay Alan Meier, 40, passed away on the afternoon of Sunday, November 3, 2024. He was born in Vancouver, Washington, on May 16, 1984, to Dale and Debbie Meier. After graduating from Heritage high school Jay attended BYU-Idaho in Rexburg, Idaho, before serving a two-year mission in Cordoba Argentina. After returning from his mission, he graduated from BYU-Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in Spanish and graphic design. From college, Jay moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.

In 2017, Jay met the love of his life, Julie Lynn Barker, and they were married for time and all eternity in the Ogden LDS Temple on February 16, 2019. They welcomed their precious daughter, Elizabeth Rene Meier, on August 7, 2022.

As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jay enjoyed serving as an Elders Quorum President in his singles ward. Later he served as a technology specialist on both the ward and stake levels.

Jay enjoyed leading, teaching, and producing creative work. He owned and operated his company, “Hey Just J” in which he pursued many passion projects. He loved to bridge the gap between technology and art. He’s solved problems for hundreds of businesses including international corporations, local start-ups, and charities. Whatever he approached, he did it creatively.

He also worked as a creative consultant for Alphagraphics for many years. His last job was as brand manager for LoanPro. He had many ideas, plans and goals we wanted to bring to his job. Unfortunately, his cancer eventually put him on disability.

Jay loved the outdoors. From a young age, he hiked and backpacked. As an adult he took opportunities to photograph the beauty he so enjoyed. Up until the last month of his life, he would push himself to do home improvements. He loved to build, create and fix that which others could consider unfixable.

Jay is survived by his wife, Julie; daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Rene; parents, Dale and Debbie Meier; brothers, Kyle (Elise) and Jon (Deidra); sister, Jenni (Stuart) Anderson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Diane Bierman; grandparents, Hans and Lois Meier and Bill and Arvis Adams.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Clinton Stake Center, 1288 West 1300 North. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.

Services will be live-streamed and available the day of the services by scrolling to the bottom of Jay’s obituary page at: www.lindquistmortuary.com where condolences may also be shared.
