Jay Moore Obituary
Jay Gregory Moore, 55, of Sunbury, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026 Duke Hock Family Pavilion, Durham, NC.
Jay was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 31, 1971 and was the husband of Lisa Butler Moore and the son of Jerry Moore and Gloria Ward Moore, both deceased. Jay loved loved his wife and family. He loved playing with our grandchildren, giving them nicknames, making Donald Duck sounds and silly faces. Jay loved animals and all kinds of racing.
Survivors include his wife, Lisa; brother, Jeff Moore of NC; sister, Wendy Sylvestri of Maryland; two daughters, Courtney and Tiffany; two sons, Lance and Brandon; grandchildren, Hazel, Judith, Maile, Ellie, Kaedyn, and one on the way, David; and extra grandchildren, Alaya, Toby, and David.
In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Jon Moore.
The family will have a time of visitation and celebration of Jay’s life from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2026 at The Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, NC.
