Jay Elliot Rees
Jay Elliot Rees passed away on November 7, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer and heart
issues. An avid fisherman and hunter, Jay will be missed for his infectious smile and sense of
humor.
Born on September 12, 1956 to Ronald and Carol Sue Rees of Vancouver, Washington, he was
1 of 3 boys. The family moved to Lincoln City in 1966 where his folks started Taft Hardware,
now Ace Hardware.
Jay graduated from Taft High School in 1974 and attended DeVry Institute in Phoenix, AZ. After
a couple of years installing overhead doors, he landed a maintenance job at North Lincoln
Hospital and was there many years before leaving and honing his woodworking skills. He
specialized in well crafted picnic tables, selling many to the community and tourists. He also
performed maintenance at Gallucci's Pizzeria for many years.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his twin brother Mark and younger
brother Jon as well as 1 aunt, 3 nephews and 1 niece.
