Jay Salgado: Aug. 31, 1982 - Sept. 21, 2021.
Jay Salgado unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 21, 2021, in Austin, Texas. He was 39 years old. Jay was born in Austin and graduated from Garza Independence High School. After his graduation, he enlisted and served in the United States Navy for four years. Upon completion of his military service, Jay found his work home in Austin's thriving restaurant industry. Jay was deeply and immensely loved. He had a radiant smile, gorgeous eyes and loved to chat and ask questions. His passions from a very young age included being a fan of music and sports. He loved attending concerts and especially loved heavy metal music, and was incredibly proud of his extensive concert tee shirt collection. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and tried to never miss a game. He loved the Texas Longhorns and the San Antonio Spurs. Watching these games with family and friends brought him much joy. His family is devastated by this loss. Jay is survived by his mother, Evelyn; father, Jerry; brothers Che and Beck; his loving maternal grandmother, Anabel Muñoz; maternal aunts Patricia Zamora (Rick) and Pearly Oglesby (Chris); and maternal uncle, David Muñoz Jr. Paternal grandfather, Adan Salgado; and aunt and uncles Jo Ann and Roman Nowak and Thomas Salgado, along with six cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bangers Restaurant (79 Rainey St.) on October 10 @ 6:30pm. The family graciously requests that no black be worn. In leu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to local mental health organizations in Jay's memory. Jay is now reunited with his loving grandfather David Munoz Sr. We believe Jay now assumes his role as a guardian angel for our Lord in Heaven. He will be missed and never forgotten.
