EAST BEND - Mr. Jay Douglas Scott, 60, of Minnie Scott Lane passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was born November 28, 1963 in Yadkin County to the late J.D. Scott and Bertha Davis Billings. Mr. Scott worked for several years with Unifi, Inc. of Yadkinville and loved going to church at Union Cross Friends Meeting. He always enjoyed watching NASCAR and Football, loved being outside hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, but his greatest love was his children. He was a loving, devoted father to them and cherished the opportunities he had to spend time with them. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Jackie Scott and his wife, Diane; a special friend, Kathy Brown; and several aunts and uncles. Surviving are his beloved children, Dalton Scott and wife, Casey; Abby Scott and her fiance’, Brad Underwood, and his 3 step-grandchildren, Miley, Rylee, Kylie; the mother of his children, Gail Snow; 3 whom he loved as his own, Timmy Lloyd and wife, Melissa, Brandon Lloyd, and Laura Lloyd; his niece, Kristy (Sam) Witten; nephew, Michael (Jennifer) Scott; his canine friends, Bleu and Bear; close friend, Annette Cothren; uncle Roger Scott; and several cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at Union Cross Friends Meeting by Rev. Robin Dixon and Rev. Ronnie Wooten. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service from 2:30-3:00 PM Wednesday at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Fall Creek VFD, East Bend VFD, Yadkin County Rescue Squad, Yadkin County EMS, and Yadkin County Emergency Responders for their loving care, support, and commitment to the community. In Lieu of flowers or memorials, the family requests that donations be made to Gentry Family Funeral Service to help with additional funeral expenses.
