Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home & Cremation ServicesJayce Macallister Berggren age 28, of Tucson, AZ formerly of Serena, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 21st, 2025 in Tucson, his parents at his side, after a two and a half year battle with cancer.
Jayce was born on June 3, 1997 in Peru, IL to Lee & Renae (Pulliam) Berggren. He is survived by his devoted parents Lee & Renae of Serena, two brothers Jarret Berggren of DeSoto, MO and Jacob "Jake" (Sydnie) Berggren of Fairmont, IN and their children Rhett & Ryne. Jayce also leaves grandparents Sharon Pulliam of Sheridan, and Truman Berggren of Serena. He was preceded in death by grandparents Malcolm "Mac" Pulliam, Patricia "Patty" Berggren, and an Aunt Michele Berggren-Goodlet.
Jayce graduated Illinois Valley Community college with honors and dual degrees in 2017. He continued his education at Northern Illinois University, earning his Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, graduating Cum Laude in 2020.
Jayce began working for Raytheon Technologies (RTX) immediately after graduation, first in Portsmouth, RI then transferring to Tucson AZ in 2022. Jayce loved spending time with his family, his friends, and his cat Nyx. He loved a good battle of wits as well as gaming & board game nights that would extend until the wee hours of the morning. He took up indoor rock climbing and hiking in AZ, and recently obtained his motorcycle license, buying his first motorcycle earlier this year. Jayce had aspirations of getting his pilot's license. Jayce will be remembered for his tenacious work ethic, genuineness, brilliant mind, disarming wit and empathetic heart. Jayce gave the best hugs!
Visitation will begin at 1pm Saturday October 11th followed by a memorial service at 3pm at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Pastor Trevor Workman officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Jarret Berggren, Jake Berggren, Zeke Jacobs, Devin Borchsenius, Dylan Huss, Dalton Huftel and Rich McCaslin. Interment will be in Serena Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local Humane Society or Animal Shelter of the donor's choice, or the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
