Elkville- Jayne Ann Chaney, age 67, of Elkville, passed away at 5:20pm on Thursday, April 22, 2021 following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Jayne was born in Rockford, Illinois on October 4, 1953, the daughter of Betty Jane (Davis) and James "Jim" W. Ray II. She married Jarrell Chaney in Marion on July 15, 1990. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2006.
Jayne proudly served her country in the United States Army.
Survivors include-
Son- James Bunton and Casey Vanbuskirk of Benton
Daughter- Elizabeth Yates of Carbondale
Daughter- Kristy Allen Steely of Carbondale
Grandchildren- Johnathan Bunton of Forsythe
Draven Bunton of Carbondale
Madison Bunton of Carbondale
Autum Bunton of Decatur
Jack Yates, Jr of Carbondale
Brother- Timothy Ray of Dowell
Sister- Barb Ray of Lanchester, SC
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister- Ruthie Ray, and brother- William Ray.
Cremation rites will be accorded through Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home in Du Quoin. No services will be held at this time. In honor of Jayne's veteran status, a retired American Flag will accompany her during cremation where the flag will serve one last patriotic duty for this heroic veteran one final time. The family will be presented a beautifully framed star swatch from this same flag.
