Jayne Webb Crews

Jayne Webb Crews passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2009, in Charlottesville.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Webb and by her beloved husband, Vernon Vick Crews.

She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Miller and her son-in-law, Bob Miller, of Charlottesville; and by her grandchildren, Vanessa and Chris Behr and Jessica, Zachary, and Chris Miller. She is also survived by her son Steve Crews of Irmo, South Carolina; and by her granddaughter, Charlotte Crews; and great-granddaughter, Skye Crews-Yearick of Centennial, Colorado.

Jayne was born on February 12, 1927, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Charles and Nancy Brunson Webb.

She graduated from Harding High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, and moved to Rutherfordton, North Carolina, where she met her future husband, just back from serving in the Navy in World War II. The next years were spent happily raising their children in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Jayne was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She prided herself on creating a beautiful and happy home. She also was a loving caregiver, caring for both her mother and husband during prolonged illnesses. After moving to Charlottesville, she enjoyed traveling, painting, and being with her family.

A service celebrating her life will be held 4 p.m. Wednes-day, March 18, 2009, in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 500 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902. The family will receive friends immediately after the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to a charity of one's choice.

Jayne's family wishes to thank the 7th Floor and ICU nursing staff at Martha Jefferson Hospital and Drs. Andrew Bailey, William Hammond, and Gordon Morris for their excellent and compassionate care.
