Jayne Kido Obituary
Jayne Kido
Jayne Marie (Feil) Kido was born September 9th, 1939, in Austin, CO, and went to be with the Lord, June 4th, 2024, at the age of 84. She was the seventh of nine children born to David William and Josephine (Jodie) Emma Thompson Feil. When Jayne was six, her family relocated to Brownstown, WA, where they remained. Jayne attended both White Swan grade and high schools. After graduation, she attended Western Washington College for two years, where she was involved in Honor Society, cheerleading, marching group, and FHA, as well as sports. She was proud to have been the Sugar Beat Festival Queen.
Jayne married Hal Kido on July 6th, 1963, in Seattle, WA, where they chose to raise their children. Jayne was always involved with her children's multiple schools, serving two terms as PTA president and as fundraising chair, as well as being a Brownie and Cub Scout leader. She was a room mom for all her children and was the favorite carpool mom of all their friends! In 1979, the family moved to Nagoya, Japan, for a three-year stay with Boeing. There, she taught English to many Japanese women and took up ikebana and bonsai, which she continued to practice after returning to the U.S. She always had beautiful ikebana flower arrangements in her home.
In 1983, the family moved to Enfield, CT, where she remained for the rest of her life. She worked several jobs and amassed over 20 years of clothing sales experience at stores such as Express, Petite Sophisticate, Emphasis, and Fashion Bug. She held her last job at 4 Corners Packing Store for over thirteen years.
Jayne's favorite pastimes were going to tag sales, quilting, embroidery, sewing, canning preserves, cooking, baking, gardening, and doting on all her grandchildren. Her beautiful works will live on in the homes of all who received her incredible quilts and embroidery. While living in her apartment, she continued to plant a garden that the residents continue to enjoy. Her irises and bleeding-heart flowers were particularly special to her, as they originally came from her own mother's garden.
In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her close friends, Verna Williams, Karleen Cotton, and Lil Piepul. They had wonderful adventures and made memories they'd never forget. Jayne was also blessed to have wonderful neighbors, who she came to call dear friends, including Diane M., Ruth, Dottie, Louise, and Diane P.
Jayne leaves behind her four children-Maile Jacobson (Barry) of Belfair, WA, Jodi Greene (Kyle) of Fleming Island, FL, Ken Kido of East Grandby, CT, and Jackie Kido of Sterling, VA. She also leaves behind five grandchildren-Ashley Kido, Carissa Greene, Alaysia Greene, Jordan Kido, and Jack Kido, as well as her brother, Robert Lee "Bob" Feil of Estacada, OR, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal; four brothers-William Earle, David Merle, Thomas Bert, and Theron Jack; three sisters-Dorothy Louise "Peg", Charlotte June, and Lois Kay; and her dear friend, Lil Piepul.
Her memorial service will be held June 13th, from 4-7 p.m. at Browne's Funeral Home in Enfield, CT, located at 43 Shaker Road. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Enfield Public Libraries at 104 Middle Road, Enfield, CT 06082. Jayne was an avid reader all her life and a frequent patron of her local library.
Special thanks go to Thompsonville Fire and EMS for taking such good care of her on her frequent hospital visits. We appreciate all the healthcare workers who treated her so lovingly, including Dr. Lawrence Glaubiger, Dr. Shawn Brady, Nicole Misiaszek, Kyle and Susan Gahr from Starling Physicians, Sue Baim from Centerwell, and, most recently, Joyce Ruble from Compassus.
