San Luis resident Jayne B. Martinez, 65 passed away unexpectedly on May 24, 2024. She was preceded in death by her son, Jesus Ortiz, her parents Telesfor and Alice Martinez, her nephew Phillip Martinez, her grandparents and all but one her uncles and aunts. Also, her siblings; Teddy Martinez, Kathy Martinez, and Audrey Salazar. Jayne is survived by her son Lawrence Martinez, grandson Alex Martinez (Cyerrah) and her great grand daughter Khalayah. Her brothers Stanley Martinez, James Martinez, Paul Martinez. Her aunt Evangeline Leyba, and her nephews and nieces, Melissa Martinez, Miguel Salazar, Angelica Johnson (Mark), Mario Martinez (Alejandra), Irene Salazar, Vincent Martinez, Lynnette Martinez, Caleb Martinez, Cassandra Martinez, and Isreal Martinez, as well as several great nephews and nieces and great-great nephew. She also had lots of cousins and friends.
Jayne currently resided in San Luis, CO but had also lived in Questa, NM, Las Vegas, NM, Bernal, NM, and La Jara, CO. Jayne was also born and raised in Amalia, NM. She was a Certified Public Accountant and an educator, who was well known for talents in tax preparation, and wine making.
Her viewing will be held at Romero Valley Funeral Home 1407 State Ave. Alamosa, CO, 81101 on Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Her Rosary and Funeral service will be at 9:00 AM Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church in San Luis, CO. Jayne will be laid to rest at the Garcia Cemetery in Garcia, CO following the mass, and a meal for her will follow at parish center in Costilla, NM.
