Jayne Yvonne Niermeier

Jayne Yvonne (Kastens) Niermeier passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 75 years.

Jayne was born April 11, 1949, to Harry and Paula (Neuhart) Kastens at St. Catherine’s Hospital in McCook, Nebraska.

She was baptized at home April 22, 1949, and confirmed on Palm Sunday, 1963 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ludell, Kansas.

After graduating from Atwood Community High School in 1967, she attended Fort Hays State University to pursue an elementary education degree. Prior to her forty-year banking career at The Bank in both Atwood and Herndon, from which she retired in 2018, she was employed at Warta Chiropractic and Williams Brothers grocery store.

While at The Bank for 40 years, 28 of those as head Branch Bank Manager at Herndon, she had the natural ability to work with numbers flawlessly, while at the same time nurturing personal relationships with her customers. Because of her upbringing she enjoyed the news brought from them and she spoke highly of the ability of children to speak to their elders. Her customers became a second family to her.

In the 1960s Jayne played women’s fast-pitch softball in Ludell and liked to recall the days of playing first base for the team.

On December 26, 1970, she married Everett Niles Niermeier at Trinity Lutheran Church, Ludell. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2020. Daughter Amber was adopted in 1981 and son Jordan in 1983.

Jayne was an active member of Trinity choir for many years. She taught Sunday School at both Trinity and Redeemer, having begun teaching at Trinity at age 16.

Preceding her in death were son Jordan in 2006 and her parents in 2010 and 2012. She is survived by her husband Niles, daughter Amber and husband Efrain Adames of Colorado Springs, grandchildren Natalie Adames, Efrain Jr. Adames and wife Aleya, Teriah and husband Logan Sims, great-grandchildren Ember and Kreed, four brothers and their wives, and one sister.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood. A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a meal. Interment at Immanuel Cemetery took place Friday, March 21, 2025.
