Jayrick "JAY JaVoy" Washington

Jayrick Ja'Voy "Jay" Washington, 18, was born March 28, 2005, in Jennings, Louisiana to Desirick La'Voy Washington and Jeanette Lynn Soularie. He accepted Christ at an early age at Immanuel Worship enter in Jennings. He later joined Antioch Baptist Church in Lake Arthur, where he was baptized on April 18, 2018, and served in the youth choir and Sunday School Ministry. Jayrick graduated from Jennings High School in 2023 where he was voted best personality. While in high school, he worked at Burger King. He also worked at Blooming Bullpups Daycare Center. October of 2022, he started working at Walmart #386 in Jennings, Louisiana and had recently transferred to Walmart #1102 in Baker, Louisiana while attending Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Jay loved spending time with family and friends. He loved playing with his nephew and niece but would not babysit. He enjoyed cooking and washing his car. Jayrick was the life of the party, who never met a stranger. He had a contagious smile that would light up a room. He loved working and getting on everyone nerves at work and home; was just so silly. The most craziest things would come out of his mouth, just to put a smile on your face. Jayrick was spoiled rotten by both parents and had a smart mouth at times, but would say "I not being sassy". His team leader and coworkers would threaten to call his mom, so he would laugh and tell them, "ok, I'm going to stop". He just had to have the last word. He loved spending time with his grandmother, taking her places. Whatever Jay set his mind to,he was determined to get it done. He brought a ray of sunshine to everyone he came in contact with. If his momma said no, he knew he would get his way with his daddy. Some way, he would make his dad feel sorry for him, and would get what he wanted either way.
Jayrick entered into his heavenly home on Tuesday, March 23, 2024, in a fatal shooting on Interstate 110 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by great grandmothers, Elsie Soularie, Rosezella McZeal, and Jewelene Washington; great grandfather, Amos McZeal; uncle, Jason Stewart; and cousins, Durry McZeal and Shawntell George.
