Jean D. Aabo

Jean Aabo, age 78, of Charlton, NY, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Jean was born on July 4, 1947, to Kathryn and Paul Falotico in Westwood, NJ, where she grew up and went to school. In her junior year of college, she attended the University of Copenhagen, Denmark and it was in February 1968 that she met the love of her life, Torben. They have been married for 56 years and raised their two children, Christina and David, on their Sweetman Farm with dogs, horses, and chickens. Family time included many 4-H activities and making maple syrup. When Christina and David married their spouses, Matt Petrillose and Meghan McNeil, everyone went on family trips together to Denmark, Hawaii, Argentina, and Mexico. The grandchildren, Max and Beckett, have been a joy and delight to Jean and Torben and they have brought much happiness into their lives. Living close by afforded them many opportunities to see each other and share mealtimes. Family has always been Jean's highest priority.
Next to family, Jean's dogs were close to her heart. She spent a lot of her time training her dogs Carob, Kiffa, and Cooper to compete in obedience dog shows, achieving various levels of success and a couple of blue ribbons! More important than the shows were the love and companionship these dogs offered her.
Jean enjoyed traveling and had a spirit of adventure, highlighted by whitewater rafting on the Colorado River, taking a hot air balloon ride in New Mexico, riding a camel in Morocco, and catching a tiger fish in the Zambezi River in Africa. She loved experiencing new cultures in different parts of the world and language was never a barrier to communicating with people. She loved people and that love extended to various ministries of service, such as hosting children from NYC, teaching, substituting, and volunteering in elementary schools and on the Board of The Charlton School, serving meals to the aged, and at City Mission in Schenectady, as well as being a church deaconess. She loved her Church at Ballston Center and had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ballston Center Church, 58 Charlton Rd, Ballston Spa, NY, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A reception will immediately follow at the church.
The burial will be held privately for the family at Sweetman Cemetery, Charlton, NY.
