Gunnison, Utah - Our dearly loved, Jean Marian Barton passed away at age 77, in her home in Gunnison on December 11, 2025. She was born on December 5, 1948 to Walter Guy Brown Jr and Sarah Ann Wallace in Denver, Colorado.
Jean grew up going to the beach, riding horses and playing the piano. As a toddler her favorite was roaming the neighbors garden and eating their carrots! She attended Redondo Beach High school where she excelled at singing with 16 piece orchestras and drama club. On January 12, 1968, She married Charles Ward Barton in Los Angeles, California. He passed away shortly after their 41st anniversary on March 12, 2010.
As an adult she became a homemaker, received her cosmetology license, raised her two children, spent her time loving her many animals, and feeding the deer. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, golfing, bowling, and decorating for the holidays. We will miss her dearly. Thank you, Mama!
She is survived by her daughters: Charmaine Barton of Salem, Arkansas and Heather (Josh) Haskin of Gunnison; Grandchildren: Gunnar Ward of Salem Arkansas, Chloe (Matt) Bennett of Mt. View, Arkansas; Devan (Dawson) Prickett of Chandler, Arizona; London Haskin of Vernal, Utah; Riley Haskin of Apache Junction, Arizona; Dylan Haskin & Dax Haskin, both of Gunnison. Great-grandchildren: Grey Prickett & Violet Prickett of Chandler, Arizona; Charlie Snow of Mt. View, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ward Barton; Parents, Sarah Ann Wallace and Walter Guy Brown Jr.; Brother, Gregory Brown; Sister, Evelyn Dobson and Grandson, Maxwell Adrian Ward.
Cremation services under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina.
