Barbara Barton

Barbara Joyce Barton, 88, of Ringgold, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 23, 1937, in Ringgold, Barbara was a lifelong resident of the community she loved. She worked at Catoosa County Schools' transportation department as a school bus monitor for 24 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She shared her love and kindness with all those around her. Together with her husband, they opened their hearts and doors as foster parents, providing a safe place for many children throughout the years. Barbara was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Barney Barton; her parents, Rev. Benny and Louise Bowman; her brother, Billy Bowman; her daughters, Amber, Tiffany, and Virginia Barton; and great granddaughter, Briar Caroline Page.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Carolyn (Marvin) Ridge of Hixson, TN; Ben (Carolyn) Barton of Ringgold, GA; Rodney (Jennifer) Barton of Winter Haven, FL; Roger Barton of Ringgold, GA; Wendy (Josh) Crawford of Chattanooga, TN; Christy Barton Stringer of Rockmart, GA; and Christopher Barton of East Ridge, TN. She is also survived by her special great-niece, Natalie of Chattanooga, TN, as well as many other children whose lives she touched and loved as her own.

Barbara was blessed with numerous grandchildren-Kristen, Ryan, Bethany, Brandy, Brittany, Abbie, Caleb, Joshua, Julie Anna, Jack, Ansleigh, Audrey, and Elaina-and great-grandchildren-Micheala, Naleah, Brooklyn, Bella, Kenzley, Talon, Augusta, Huntley, McClain, and Colter-each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Martin Boyd Christian Home for their compassionate and loving care.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Rodney Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Heritage Funeral Home on Battlefield Parkway.
