Jean Weslord Cadeau, affectionately known as "Wes," was born in Croix-Des-Bouque, Haiti, on May 31, 1983, to Jean Wesner Cadeau and Marie Roselle Cadeau. At just eight years old, Wes remained in Haiti with his older sister Roseline and brother Guerson when his parents immigrated to the United States. The experience of living together in the care of extended family during that time forged an unbreakable bond among the siblings, one rooted in mutual support, love, and resilience.
In April 1992, Wes and his siblings were joyfully reunited with their parents in the United States. He adapted quickly, learning the language, embracing the culture, and thriving in his new environment. He eventually attended Orange High School, where he excelled academically and graduated with honors. He went on to study graphic design at Kean University, where he was an active member of the Haitian Students Association. His peers recognized his quiet leadership and creative talent, noting that he contributed meaningfully to the early efforts of the National Alliance for the Advancement of Haitian Professionals (NAAHP).
During his college years, Wes discovered a deep passion for photography, which led him to open Big Shot Photo Studio in the heart of Orange, New Jersey. Through his lens, Wes captured the joy and beauty of life's most cherished moments-weddings, birthdays, holidays, and more. For many local families, he was the one who gave them their very first professional photograph.
Although he left Haiti as a child, Wes' love for his homeland never faded. He organized numerous fundraisers to support various projects in Haiti, most notably founding an initiative to teach photography and economic empowerment to young people. His pride in his heritage and commitment to uplifting others remained at the core of his identity.
Wes will be remembered for his artistic eye, his selfless nature, and his unwavering dedication to family and community. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, both through his work and his generous spirit.
Wes is survived by his loving parents, Jean Wesner and Marie Roselle Cadeau; and his devoted siblings and their spouses: Gertrude Cadeau, Wesley Cadeau, Guerson Cadeau and his wife Izemela Cadeau, Roseline Cadeau-Auguste and her husband Samuel Auguste, Shadrac Cadeau and his wife Sheleh Cadeau, Danley Cadeau and Samuel Cadeau and his wife Nahomie Cadeau.
