Obituary of Jean Carroll

Jean Carroll of Canandaigua died Sunday, September 21, 2025 at age 87.

Jean is survived by her twin sister Jane Steffen, niece Rhonda Stemkovsky (Alex) and nephew JR Steffen (Ashley). Along with great nephews Westin, Waylon, Bryce and Brody. Preceded in death by her brother-in-law Dick Steffen.

Jean grew up in Elmira, NY where her love for teaching began. Jean received her bachelor's in physical education from Cortland and we no to get her Doctorate from Ithaca. Jean taught physical education within the public school system at Bath, Middletown and went on to teach at the collegiate level at Fredonia and adventured to Green Mountain in Vermont. She would have rather been on a field coaching than watching sports any day. Jean also taught physical fitness at the Elmira Psychiatric center for many years.

Jean loved adventures and once rode her motorcycle cross country. She had many hobbies over the years such as coin collecting, music and photography. Her love for classic cars brought Jean to keep her mother's car, a classic Dodge Monaco and have it restored. Jean loved being on the water from a young age going to the family cottage at Keuka Lake over the summer. Jean's dream of living on the lake came true after her retirement when she moved to Canandaigua Lake and enjoyed many nights on the water watching all the boats go by. Jean loved her Dachshund dogs, and she had many by her side during her adult life.

Services will be announced at a later dat.
