Jean W. Chalk, 88 years of age, entered into rest on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Jean was born in Sharonville, Ohio on October 29, 1933 to his late parents George Fountain Chalk and Ruth Williams Chalk. Jean was a Racing official for over 40 years; he was a Jockey for 13 years and a Thoroughbred horse trainer for 13 years. Over the years he worked in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland. Jean was also a member of Florence United Methodist Church. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jean Chalk; brother, George Donald Chalk; sister, Edi Mae Chalk and son-in-law, David Pate. Left to mourn Jean's passing is his son, Ted Chalk (Gayle); daughter, Peggy Chalk-Pate (Joe); and twin brother, Jack Chalk (Janice). He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. The Funeral Service will be at 12 PM on Tuesday, September 20 at Florence United Methodist Church, 8585 Old Toll Road, Florence, KY 41042. Visitation will be from 6 – 8 PM on Monday, September 19 at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 US 42, Florence, KY 41042 and again from 10 AM – 12 PM prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens, Cincinnati, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Florence United Methodist Church or Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, PO Box 803, Elmhurst, IL 60126.
