Jean Hermann Chery was born on March 2, 1946, in Croix-Des-Bouquets, Haiti. He peacefully passed away on September 29, 2025, at 4:50 PM at Brush Hill Care Center in Milton, Massachusetts, at the age of 79.
Jean Hermann was the cherished son of the late Genevieve Chery and Charles Dorestant. He was preceded in death by his maternal siblings: Jean Robert Chery and Jean Hubert Chery, and his half siblings: Mme Vital Dorsenay née Lucrèce Dorestant (dcd), Duclos Dorestant (dcd), Roland Dorestant (dcd), Mme Athalie Dorestant (dcd), Mme Ludès Dorestant (dcd), Gesner Dorestant (dcd), Claude Dorestant (dcd). He is survived by the following siblings: brother Ludovic Chery, sister Remonde Chery Cantave, Marie Edith Charlot (Philogene), Pierre Nicole Philogene, Jean Numa Philogene, Joseph Roma Philogene, Marie Romane Philogene and Marie Prima Philogene.
Raised by his devoted single mother, Jean Hermann was a man of many talents and great responsibility. He received his education at L'École Nationale Charlotin Marcadieu in Croix-Des-Bouquets and had a diverse career as a farmer, electrician, and barber. Each role reflected his hardworking spirit and commitment to serving others.
On August 17, 1981, Jean Hermann migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he continued to build a life rooted in hard work, community, love, and generosity. Jean Hermann was a devoted father to his children: Jean Bermany Chery, Jean Emmanio Chery (dcd), Marie Micheline Chery, Louis M. Chery (With partner: Marie Viegema Abellard (dcd)) Jean Bermann Chery and Nicole Chery (dcd) (with Partner: Muslene Guerreir). Guerlyne Chery, Marlyne Chery, Marie Carline Chery Louis, Hermiline Chery Piverger (With Partner: Marie Gertha Maxena). Robenson Chery (With Partner Solange Drouillard). Children according to his heart: Asnack Chery, Jean Deschanel Chery, Kenny Chery and Marie Marthe Chery.
Jean was also a proud grandfather to: Ferlando Z. Chery, Bermina Chery, Theobermanine Chery, Mimann G. Chery, Leila Chery, Tricia E. Chery, Kevin M. Chery, Karl N. Chery, Erven Exilhomme, Herby Exilhomme, Emmanuel Milfort Jr., McKennya Chery, Louis Mckinley H.G. Chery Jr., McKayllah Chery, Sylvie Letarte, Cecile Letarte, Ruth R. Chery, Arabella N. Louis, Imani N. Louis, Jubilee Piverger, and Noah Piverger.
Even during his illness, Jean remained devoted to his family, lovingly caring for and feeding his great-grandchildren Zakai and Kyonn Exilhomme.
Although Jean Hermann made his home in the United States, his heart always stayed close to Haiti. He continuously supported his extended family there with compassion and pride.
Jean Hermann Chery will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and the deep love he shared with all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he so deeply cherished.
He will be deeply missed and forever honored.
