Jean Lee Clarkson passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on July 22, 1935, in Catonsville, Maryland, Jean was the beloved daughter of Clyde Dorsey and Alverta Hawke, and sister to the late Patricia Stonesifer. Jean's life was one of creativity, independence, and quiet strength. From an early age, she dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, pursuing that passion at the Maryland School of Design, then she gained employment at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Life's path, however, led her west to California in 1959, where her artistic eye and meticulous nature found a home in the aerospace industry. For 33 years, Jean worked as an engineering planner for McDonnell Douglas, helping design jet aircraft modifications with the same precision and imagination she once devoted to fashion. Her artistic spirit continued to shine through her beautiful still life oil paintings, which brought warmth and color to her home and to those lucky enough to receive them. A talented cook and gracious hostess, Jean's kitchen was the heart of many cherished holiday gatherings, filled with laughter, good food, and love. In her later years, Jean embraced retirement with the same grace and independence that defined her life-spending her days surrounded by art, friends, and family. Jean is survived by her loving children, Scott Clarkson and Patti Clarkson, and her adored grandson, Brooks Clarkson. Her life will be remembered for its creativity, kindness, and quiet determination-a life beautifully lived and deeply. A private gathering will be held to celebrate Jean's life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembering her by creating something beautiful or donating to your favorite charity in her honor.
