Jean “Jennie” Elizabeth (Smith) Cresta, 86, passed away peacefully and suddenly on October 13, 2025, at Eden Acres Campus of Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
Jennie was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on June 8, 1939. She was the eldest of eight children. She loved crocheting, painting, drawing, cooking, and doodling. Jennie also had a special gift for growing plants — everything she touched seemed to flourish. Her outgoing personality and warm spirit always brought a smile to those around her, no matter the circumstances.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Anne Smith, and sisters, Carmella and Elizabeth Ann.
Jennie is survived by her children: Kevin (Smith) Davidson and his wife Paula, Katherine Pratt and her husband Don, Virginia Hellyer and her husband Brian, and Lance Smith. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Jennie will be deeply missed by all who loved her and by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. It’s not a good-bye — it’s a see-you-later.
