Jean M. Dion, 82, of Manchester, NH, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 3, 1943, in Plessisville, Canada, he was the son of the late Albert and Collette (Poirier) Dion.
Jean was educated in Barre, VT. On September 18, 1971, he married Susan Compo, and together they shared 54 years of devoted marriage, building their life in Barre, VT, and later in Manchester, NH. Jean dedicated over 24 years of his career as an ironworker with Local 474. In addition to his trade, he owned and operated a lawn care business. He found great joy in traveling to Maine and visiting Foxwoods. He also cherished time spent snowmobiling with his son and had a deep love for country music. Above all, Jean treasured time with his family, especially his beloved grandsons, Winston and Wilson.
Jean is survived by his loving wife, Susan Dion; his son, Jay Dion and his wife, Christine; his daughter, Sara Sarette and her husband, Walter; and his cherished grandsons, Wilson and Winston. Sisters, Jackie Proteau, Diane Robidoux, Lucie Ducharme, Lucille Sorrell, Gervis Horion and brother Dan Dion and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lori Gagnon, and brother in law Marc Sorrell.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM with a service taking place at 11:30 AM at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. The interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society.
