Ruth Dion, a kind and endlessly friendly soul, passed peacefully on February 19, 2026, in
Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 73.
Born in
Los Angeles, California, Ruth grew up in the beautiful Salt Lake City Valley of Utah, where she developed a lifelong love of nature, animals, and the simple joys of creating with her hands. She later made her home in Gilbert, Arizona, where she built a life full of warmth and quiet adventure.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Dion; Mother, Carol; Father, LeRoy; Brother, Gene and Sister, Patty. She is survived by her cherished daughter Heather; granddaughters Britten, Abigail, Olivia, and Madeline; great grandson Maddox; brothers Doug, Ron, and Bob; sister Sharon; and her soul sister Ginger. She was also the devoted mom to her kitty Cleo, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
Ruth worked as a Computer Drafter before becoming known affectionately as the "Bag Lady" at Uneek2U Bags, where her creativity and friendly nature shone through every day. In her free time she poured love into gardening, sewing (especially quilts she gifted to those around her), puzzles, reading, diamond art, and exploring anything that sparked her curiosity including space, nature, animals, and new ideas.
She had an open mind and a welcoming heart. Ruth would strike up a conversation with anyone she met, making strangers feel like friends in moments. She cared deeply about animals and supported WWF, the Humane Society, and any organization that protected them. In her later years she found great joy and community at Morningstar Goldenridge, where she was embraced and loved.
Ruth was baptized as a Christian in April 2025, a milestone that brought her peace and deepened her sense of wonder about life and what comes next. A private online memorial service will be held by invitation for loved ones across the country, allowing everyone who cherished her to gather in spirit and remembrance.
Ruth lived with kindness, curiosity, and an open heart. She made quilts to wrap people in warmth, chatted with strangers to brighten their day, and loved her family and Cleo with everything she had. She will be remembered as the friendliest person in any room, the one who always had time to listen, create, and care.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory may be made to the Humane Society, WWF, or a local animal rescue organization she loved. Her light continues in every quilt she stitched, every conversation she started, and every heart she touched. Rest in peace, Grammie. You are deeply loved and greatly missed.
