Jean E. Fazer, 93, of Spalding, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at her home with family surrounding her.
She was born on May 14, 1931 in Escanaba, daughter to Robert H. and Mary F. (Schermer) Lawrence. Jean was raised in LaBranche and graduated from Powers Spalding School. She then attended Cloverland Commercial College.
On October 29, 1953, the former Jean Lawrence married Lloyd A. Fazer at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. They raised their family in Spalding and resided there for over 70 years.
She was employed with the State Laboratory MDPH in Powers for 30 years, retiring in 1984. In her retirement years, she worked for Powers Printing and Movieland Video.
Jean loved going to the casino, doing puzzles, gardening, reading and watching NBA basketball. She was a very proud grandma to cheer her grandson coach for three straight state basketball championships.
Among survivors include her children, Robert (Mary) Fazer, Joni (Lee) Vincent, Toni (Jim) Behrend, Tami (Paul) Wolf, and Thomas (Mayerle) Fazer; son-in-law, Joe Kirschner; grandchildren, Jason, Jeffrey, Terry, and Adam Mercier, Niki Stenson and Trisha Biemford, Melissa and Eric Perry, Dan and Dustin Wolf, and Briar Quick; sisters-in-law Joan Lawrence and Marvel Beauchamp, many step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Teri Kirschner; and brother, Robert Lawrence, Jr.
Private graveside services will take place in Spalding Twp. Cemetery.
