Jean Gallagher Obituary
Jean Gallagher passed away on June 20, 2023 after a long and full life at the age of 96. She died peacefully at home in Long Neck, DE, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born in Scranton, PA on June 17, 1927. She grew up in Wales and moved to the US in 1946 to marry Private First Class Anthony Gallagher, who was temporarily stationed in Great Britain during WWII. Jean lived in Clifton Heights and Drexel Hill, PA, Cape May, NJ and Long Neck, DE.
Jean was an only child who began her adult life as a stenographer in Great Britain. When she moved to the US and married, she found her life fulfillment as a wife and a mother to her seven children. Jean stayed young at heart her whole life. She loved parties, holiday celebrations, dancing and travel, especially cruises. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony Gallagher, and sons Steven and Lawrence.
Jean is survived by her children; Helene (Vincent Giampeitro) LeVine, Linda (Robert) Mangam, Marian (Michael) Spresser, Michael (Patti) Gallagher, Kevin (Maureen) Gallagher, Karen (Troy) Shenton, and Michelle (Chip Blankley) Gallagher; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Tuesday, June 27, 2023 9:30am Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:30am In the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Donations to Southern Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
