Jean Gazonas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home on May 1, 2024.
Rhea "Jean" Gazonas (Troxel) of Blue Bell, passed away peacefully on Saturday April 27, 2024, with her family by her side. She was 96 years old. Born March 15, 1928, in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Davis and Helen (Weachter) Troxel. She attended Norristown High School and in 1947 married the late Augustus J. Gazonas. Together they had 5 children: the late Beth A. Gazonas/Irwin, Bonnie L. Woffington (the late David Sr.), James D. Gazonas (Susan), John A. Gazonas (Inger) and Barbara J. Mellon (Joseph).
Jean met the late Francis "Fonce" Sirchio in 1995, remarried in 2010 and spent most of her time in Delray Beach FL until she relocated to Pennsylvania in 2019. Jean is survived by her brother Hoss Troxel. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Davis, and Earl Troxel, as well as her sister, Betty Mussleman.
Jean loved all types of sports and activities-she was a noted bowler at the Facenda Whitaker Bowling Lanes, an exceptional tennis player and an avid golfer. Known for her renowned knitting skills, anyone who knew Jean undoubtedly has a hand-made sweater, hat, or pair of mittens. Her outgoing personality was addicting, and she was always surrounded by friends-or making new ones.
Jean is also survived by her ten grandchildren; Jami, Nicholas, Kelli, Joseph, David, Alexis, Daniel, Ben, Alex, and James, and eight great grandchildren; Damon, Mason, Justin, Mateo, Maddie, Adam, Jax and Neko.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in Jean's Life Celebration on Thursday May 9, from 10 AM to 10:50 AM at Christ Church United Church of Christ 1003 W. Marshall St. in Norristown. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM at the church. Interment will be at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting. Family arrangements are by Boyd-Horox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.
