Edna (Jean) Bowles Roberts Geans, age 89, born June 9, 1936 in Gallatin, Tennessee to Malcom Patterson Bowles Sr. and Susie Estelle Kemper Bowles Brown passed away on June 29, 2025 in Hendersonville, Tennessee at her home while in Hospice care with her two children by her side, Mitch and Jeanne. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Malcom (Pat) Bowles, Sr.; her mother, Susie Kemper Brown; her husbands, Luther Mitchell Roberts, Jr. and Bobby Joe Geans; her brothers, Billy Bowles, Joe Bowles Sr., Pat Bowles Jr., Ray Bowles Sr.
She is survived by her son, Luther Mitchell Roberts III; her daughter, Jeanne Sue Roberts Hesson; her grandchildren, Joshua Mitchell Roberts (Jennifer), Joseph Douglas Hesson Jr (Michelle), Jonathan Matthew Hesson; her great grandchildren, Jada Elise Roberts Huff (Jayden), Alexander Cade Hesson, Maximus Kane Hesson; her great great grand daughter, Elena Dawn Huff; along with many nephews and nieces and her only sister, Carolyn Cutrell (Milton).
Jean was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmommie, and she loved her family dearly and took great pride in her accomplishments in life. She loved working in the yard and flowerbeds. She loved nature, enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife in her back yard. She was a simple woman and took pride in her home and family. She will be missed deeply, but is now with other loved family and friends in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Aveanna Hospice of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Visitation for Jean will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 starting at 10:00 am at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St. Hendersonville, TN 37075). The funeral service for Jean will start at 12:00 noon at the same location. Jean will be laid to rest after the following in the Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Garden of Cross.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Joshua Mitchell Roberts, Joseph Douglas Hesson Jr., Jonathan Matthew Hesson, and her great grandsons: Alexander Cade Hesson, Maximus Kane Hesson
