Jean Holmes Obituary
She was born on Sept. 25, 1939, in Ida Grove, to Edmund and Dorothy Heldt Baird. She married Thomas Holmes on April 29, 1958 in Ida Grove. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2010. She was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed watching reality TV shows and spending time with her family. She was an avid collector of many things and was a very independent and feisty woman.
Jean is survived by two daughters: Bonnie Boecker of New London and Lori (Ken) Barlow of Fort Madison; three sons: Steven Holmes of Denver, Colo., Peter Holmes of St. Cloud, Minn. and Jeffery (Stefanie) Holmes of Castle Rock, Colo.; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Terry and Thomas Holmes, Jr., and one brother.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 at Bethany Baptist Church (2340 McKinley Avenue, Keokuk) with her son-in-law, Pastor Ken Barlow officiating.
