Jean A. Koons

Jean A. Koons, 90, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born in Decatur, IN, on August 29, 1934, the daughter of the late Rufus and Viola (Fox) Kirchhofer. On May 7, 1955, Jean married Kent D. Koons, he preceded her in death on July 13, 2023.
She was a member of the former First United Methodist Church in Decatur, currently known as Grace First Community Church. Jean was an active member of Decatur Christian Women's Club and was a Girl Scout leader. She was employed for 25 years at Reliable Drugs, Revco & Rite Aid Stores.
Jean is survived by a son, Gregory K. Koons of Arvada, CO; 2 daughters, Jill S. Koons of Vernon Hills, IL, and Linda J. (Mike) Engelhard of Crested Butte, CO; 2 granddaughters, Erica Engelhard of Westminster, CO, and Mallory Engelhard of Denver, CO.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Bernadine A. Ehrman & Naomi R. Becher.
Visitation will be Monday, March 31, 2025, at Adams Woodcrest Porter Auditorium from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with an hour visitation before the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Paster David Reed will be officiating and burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian.
Memorials can be made to Grace First Community Church or Adams Woodcrest.
