Jean LaBrack Obituary

Dover, NH - Jean L. LaBrack passed into eternal rest on March 14, 2026 at the age of 82 after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born and raised in Whitefield, N.H., graduated from Whitefield High School, class of 1961 and from The University of N.H., class of 1965. He taught math and science in Rollinsford and Rochester schools for six years prior to working at Davidson Rubber Company and its corporate owner, McCord Corporation, for 22 years. While there, he became a Certified Purchasing Manager and went on to work in purchasing management (supply chain management) for other area companies until his retirement. He was the only child of Leon F. and Flo (Fournier) LaBrack, who predeceased him along with all his aunts, uncles and first cousins. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend Bonnie (Dufour) of 61 years; his daughters Kristin Stearns and Katherine McLean; his granddaughter Lauren Stearns Hamilton (husband Christopher); his three grandsons Gary Stearns (wife Kylee), Brendan Powers, and Kyle Powers; and his great-grandsons Michael Leon Stearns and George David Stearns. He was a 54-year member of Federal Lodge No. 5, F. & A. M. and a 32º Mason, a charter member of the Whitefield Historical Society, a long-time member of the Great Bay Stamp Club, and the Dover Senior Center. He was an amateur genealogist and the unofficial family historian, having compiled an extended family of 28,000+ individuals connected by either a common ancestor or by marriage. He was an avid golf fan, stemming from his days as a caddie at the Mt. View Hotel in Whitefield, and 'committed' a lot of golf as long as he was physically able. He and Bonnie were both alumni of Whitefield High School and thoroughly enjoyed attending the annual reunions to reconnect with their roots and friends. He was noted as always ready with a joke, tall story or wise crack, believing that "humor is the best medicine."At his strict instructions, there will be no public services or celebrations. Those wishing may consider a memorial donation to one of his several charities reflecting his interests: The Salvation Army; Shriners Hospitals for Children; TurningPointUSA: The Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation; The N.H.S.P.C.A.; The Society for the Protection of N.H. Forests; Tunnel to Towers; or an ethical journalist or politician (if you can find one). The Tasker Funeral Home of Dover, NH is in charge of arrangements.

Bonnie and family may you find peace in knowing that Jean is resting and the pain is over. May he find that elusive stamp that all of his collector friends search for. Hugs, Wayne and Sue

Had many fun poker games at the LaBrack house, with Jean making sure that drinks were poured. Never knew who won, but we had fun.
