Jean Claire Melancon Lagarde

Jean Claire Melancon Lagarde passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones at home after a long illness on August 13 at the age of 86. She was born in Donaldsonville, LA and was a resident of Terrytown, LA for the past 59 years. She was the beloved wife of the late Jack Douglas Lagarde for 50 years. Loving mother of Jack Christopher Lagarde and mother-in-law of Rachelle B. Lagarde. Jean is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Thompson and her husband, Eric A. Thompson and her brother-in-law, Donald Lagarde as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elie J. and Ola B. Melancon, and her sister, Marilyn Patureau Vincent. Mrs. Lagarde was a dedicated mother, wife and caregiver to her family. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and traveling and loved her dachshunds. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA, on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Louisiana SPCA Home - Louisiana SPCA.
