Passed away peacefully at the age of 98 surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Joseph T. "Tim" McCarthy. Dearest mother of Mary McCarthy, Kathy Clayton, Barbara (Jeffrey Hintz) McCarthy, Eileen McCarthy, Peggy (Peter) Christensen, Timothy (Susan Neumeister) McCarthy, Paul (Sandra Van Dyke) McCarthy. Lovingly known as "Mama Moon" to her 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was an R.N. at Sisters of Charity Hospital and worked for many years for OB/GYN Dr. John Budzinski. Jean was a Eucharistic Minister for Christ the King Church. Special thanks to her long-time aide Lisa Bucklaew and to the nurses and aides of Hospice Buffalo. No prior visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 AM Saturday, January 24th, at Christ the King Church (Main & Lamark), Snyder. Please assemble at church. Family and friends invited. Mass will be live streamed at www.ctksnyder.com. Mary, Kathy, Barb, Eileen, Peggy, Tim and Paul. I was saddened by the news of Aunt Jeans passing. So many wonderful memories and times spent with her over the years. My mom and her were more like sisters than cousins. She kept in touch with my mom even through those difficult years and always called us on mom´s anniversary just to talk and remember. She was my doctor´s nurse when I had my babies always encouraging and helping me. She had a long wonderful life and touched so many people with her kindness, wisdom and friendship. I will miss her and think of her every year when I go camping in Alleghany.
