JEAN ANN MURPHY

1932 - 2021

(nee Tanno) of Walton Hills entered her eternal rest on June 4, 2021, just a month shy of her 89th birthday. Jean is reunited with her beloved husband, Clement (Buzz), now together again continuing a romance that started in high school. Jean was born July 8, 1932, on Murray Hill, to the late Nick and Anna Tanno. Graduating from Orange High School in 1950, she and Buzz married that same year and started their forever life together. They moved their family to Walton Hills in 1968 and became mainstays of the community while making many dear friends. Jean was active and served on numerous boards and committees of the Walton Hills Women's Club, Walton Hills Lake Club, Walton Hills 50+ Club and the Red Hat Crimson Beads. Jean will be remembered by those who knew her as feisty, fun, thoughtful and for having a most generous heart. Her home and her heart were always open and her capacity to love and care for others was unending. Her caring nature led her back to school in her late-30's to earn her nursing degree followed by many years of nursing at St. Vincent Charity and Bedford Hospitals. Over the years, Jean and Buzz enjoyed vacations in Florida and the Cayman Islands and spent their retirement years close to family and friends, splitting their time between Florida, Catawba Point and Walton Hills. Jean will be greatly missed by the many friends she collected over her lifetime and by her loving family. She is survived by her only and beloved brother, Nick Tanno (Janice) of Las Vegas, NV, her and Buzz's four sons, Mike (Marcie) Murphy of Sagamore Hills, Bob (Rosemary) Murphy of Walton Hills, Pat (Ethel) Murphy of Tampa, FL, and Tim Murphy of Walton Hills, her cherished grandchildren Michael (Lara) Murphy, Matthew (Marcy) Murphy, Robert (Cheryl) Murphy, Mackenzie, Natalie, and Nicholas Murphy, great-grandchildren Alexandra, Tyler, Collin, Paige, Livia and Mila Jean, dozens of nieces and nephews and her dear friend and companion, Susan Chapin. And then there is Tiger (the second one), their adored Peek-a-Poo, who preceded her in death and will be interred with Jean and Buzz in eternity. The family will receive friends Friday June 11, 2021 from 4-8 PM and Saturday June 12, 2021 from 10-11 AM followed by a service at 11 AM at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home 99 W.
