Jean Needy Obituary
Jean never let grass grow under her feet. As a homemaker with two active children, she started Boutique Tesi, an interior design and furniture store in Wappingers Falls, NY (1965), then became an Account Executives (1969), working for Merrill Lynch at a time when there were few women working on Wall Street. Her personal pursuits were many, including golf, skiing, bridge, and tennis. She skied and played tennis into her 80s and continued to play bridge into her 90s.
Friends have said she was "one of a kind". Common adjectives are 'iconic', 'stylish', 'classy' and 'remarkable'. One said "she had nine lives and she truly lived each one to the fullest". She was known and admired for her flamboyant dress and lively parties. Jean was a member and active participant in several clubs including the Edgartown Yacht Club, the Dutchess Golf Club and the Poughkeepsie Tennis Club.
In addition to her devoted and loving husband, Carl Needy, MD, she is survived by her daughter, Donna, J. Tesi, MD of New Orleans, RJ Tesi, MD of Boston, and her granddaughter, Meghan M. Tesi of Nashville. Arrangements will be private and under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, NY. A Celebration of Life is planned for the spring.
