A life-long resident of Lycoming County, Jean was the daughter of James F. & Gertrude I. (Faughnan) Naughton. She and her husband, Donald W. O'Brien recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.
Jean graduated from the Williamsport High School and Bloomsburg State College (now Bloomsburg University) with a B.S. degree in Business Education. She taught at Loyalsock Township High School and Williamsport Area High School. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer instructor for the SeniorNet Program at the James V. Brown Library for 10 years.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and a charter member of the Newberry Lioness Club.
She is survived by her husband Donald W. O'Brien and children Kathleen (Stephen) Mondell of Montoursville, Maureen Leidinger of Scranton, and David (April) O'Brien of Williamsport; grandchildren Ryan (Elizabeth), Maria (Nicholas), Kayla (Will), Connor (Taylor), Michaela, Sarah, Chandler (Katarina), and Mason (Tiana).
In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her sister Patricia A. Naughton Hendrick; son-in-law Matthew Leidinger; and great-granddaughter Luna O'Brien.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 100 Walnut St., Montoursville PA 17754, with Rev. Michael McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jean's name be made to either the James V. Brown Library, 19 E Fourth St., Williamsport PA 17701; the Lycoming Co. SPCA, 2805 Reach Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701; The Williamsport Symphony Orchestra, 220 W 4th St # 3, Williamsport, PA 17701; or Susquehanna Health Foundation for the benefit of The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport PA 17701.
