Jean Scala

Jean Scala 92 of Jackson died at home with her family on Wednesday November 12, 2025. Born in Newark, she resided in Jackson since 1967. She was a licensed beautician for over 35 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She made something for everyone she knew; a baby blanket, spreads for housewarming presents, christening outfits, sweaters, scarfs, drapes, etc, there was nothing she couldn't sew, knit or crochet. She liked to do crafts for all our events and centerpieces. She loved baking her Struffoli (Honey Balls & Bows), Lemon Cookies and her famous cheesecake & holiday cookies. Jean was a extraordinary sewer, she sewed all the costumes for the local theater group and baby clothes she donated. Jean enjoyed her summer home in Ortley Beach for over 70 years. She liked to travel and went across the States and to Europe, her favorite was Hawaii. She is predeceased by her husband Dominick J Scala in 1992, her siblings, Mary Zecchino, Yolanda Fiamingo, Lucy Oliverie & Louis Borrelli. Surviving are her children, Dominic M Scala & Phyllis Boyle & her husband, John P Boyle, grandchildren, John Boyle & Dr. Ryan Boyle. Visitation is Sunday 1-5 PM at Oliverie Funeral Home 125 S. Cooks Bridge Rd Jackson. Funeral Liturgy is Monday 10 AM at St Aloysius Church, Jackson with entombment to follow at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls.
