On July 30, 2025, surrounded by love, Jean Schell, 80, left this world with the same grace and warmth she brought to every day of her life.
Jean was the devoted mother of two sons, whom she supported and encouraged with unshakable determination. She worked hard — often at multiple jobs — to give them the foundation to live their own dreams. She was a woman of great independence, kindness, and quiet strength.
She loved music, especially the Rolling Stones, and could often be found dancing — whether at a live show with friends or in the living room with her grandchildren. Jean’s home was always open to others, a place of welcome no matter the circumstances. She adored her dogs and was known for her compassion toward animals, never hesitating to stop and help a turtle cross the road.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Quinn and Nina. Jean and Quinn shared a special bond through music and dancing, while Nina looked to her grandmother as an example of how to be strong, independent, and full of life.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved mother Vella Brooks, sister Dennie Brooks and her youngest son Gregory Branstetter. Jean leaves behind her oldest son Steve Branstetter and daughter-in-law Jaime Dollar, her grandchildren Nina and Quinn, her sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Bob Walters, brother Doug Brooks, sister and brother-in-law Debra and Michael Seagraves, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, so many dear friends, and the countless people whose lives she touched with her generosity and warmth. She will be remembered for her open heart, her love of music, and the way she made everyone feel like family.
