Jean Spence

1961 - 2026

Jean Claire (Higgins) Spence, 64, of Elkhorn, NE, passed on January 7, 2026, in Omaha, NE. Jeanne was born January 17, 1961, in Parkville, MO, to Jerry and Margaret Higgins.

Jeanne attended Creighton University, where she met the love of her life, Robert E. Spence II, and was the first female to earn a degree in Management Information Systems. On September 17th of both 1982 and 1993, Jeanne married Robb Spence (twice). Settling in Omaha, they raised three girls: Meghan, Monica, and Hiroko.

Jeanne's career included roles in sales and technology software, most recently serving as a Senior Vice President of Aperitisoft. A spitfire matriarch, she filled her time volunteering with Knights of Aksarben, Omaha Rodeo, Friends of Omaha Public Library, and Youth for Understanding. Jeanne paired a gregarious nature with a razor-sharp intellect, frequently deploying quips like "With age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes all by itself."

She joins in heaven her mother and father. Honoring her memory are her husband, Robb; daughters and their families: Meghan (Justin) Hope, Hiroko (Aaron) Ferguson, and Monica (Zane) Tempel; and four grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday, January 12, 2026 5-7:00pm at Saint Margaret Mary Church, followed by a vigil service at 7:00pm. Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Saint Margaret Mary Church. An Irish Farewell will follow.
