Jean Claire Trahan, 84, a daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on January 29th, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on May 22, 1941 in Mathews, LA. She grew up in Houma where she was close to many relatives and made many friends. She met 7 generations of relatives, from her great-grandparents Eva Duplantis Picone and Evariste Hebert to her great-grandchildren. Jean Claire knew many stories about her family history.

Jean Claire always wanted to be a mother; her desire was fulfilled at the births of 5 girls. She also loved being "Honey" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean Claire originally wanted to be an archeologist but became a teacher. She enjoyed crawfish, soap operas, sewing, crossword puzzles, and pets.

Jean Claire is survived by her daughters, Jeana (Dwayne) Hale, Janine Blanchard, Randy (Eric) Blanchard Friesel, Patricia Leggett, and Annie (Joey) Fanguy; grandchildren, Alishia (Ryan) Gordon, Shane (Rei Wang) Johnston, Jeremy Johnston, Aaron Husar, Michaelyn Leggett, Madison (Jesiah) Misko, Benjamin Fanguy, Max Leggett, and David (Brenna) Fanguy; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Marley, Marabelle, Lydia, Lucy, Grace, Olga, and Roux; her sisters, Patricia Watson and Darlene Bassett.

Jean Claire is preceded by her parents; Randolph Joseph and May Eva Picone Trahan; sister Diana Hall; grandparents John and Marie Blanchard Trahan, and Joe and Annie Hebert Picone; aunt Veronica "Tootsie" Fonseca; cousin Barbara Laporte.

Jean Claire was a Christian who desired that all would come to know Jesus.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7,2026 at Samart Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery II.
