Jean Vaccaro

Jean (Merenda) Vaccaro, age 94, of Shelton entered into eternal rest on Saturday Feb. 15, 2025 at her home. She was the devoted wife of 69 years to the late Peter Vaccaro. She is the beloved mother of Lauren Lyngar and her husband Josh, and a loving "Nonni" of Madelyn and Marcus Lyngar.
Jean was born in Derby on August 13, 1930, daughter of the late Luigi and Maria (Piccolo) Merenda, graduated from Shelton High Class of 1949 and was a Shelton resident all her life. She spent many years working at the Boys and Girls Club as a bookkeeper and then as a contract analyst at Philips Medical Systems before retiring, building lasting friendships along the way. She enjoyed the Theater and would love to take trips with the Senior Center to Broadway or just catch a show at Center Stage in Shelton. She was a diehard UCONN Girls Basketball fan and loved to cook and entertain for family and friends. Most of all, she loved to travel. Whether it was to Europe with Pete or a solo trip to California at 93 years old to see her granddaughter's high school graduation, she made the most of every trip and lived life to the fullest.
Jean also leaves behind very special family members Bob (Lisa) Pagliaro, Patti Cavallaro, Lynda (Lee) Patrick, Keith (Kalynn) Landock, Frank (Erica) Pagliaro, Rob (Christine) Pagliaro, Kim Cook and Michelle (Brett) Haywood. She is predeceased by her brother Pat Merenda and two sisters Madeline "Ad" Cavallaro and Connie "Babe" Hubbell.
Friends may greet her family on March 22, 2025, Saturday at Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Her funeral service will begin in the parlor at 11:00 am.
