Myrhum-Patten Funeral & Cremation Service - West BendJean Marie Zeckmeister (nee Eigenman), 91 years old, of West Bend was called home with the Lord on October 1, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Jean was born on May 11, 1934, in Milwaukee, she was the only child of the late Fredrik and Etta (nee Heller) Eigenman. She grew up on a farm near Cedarburg, WI and later moved to a farm near Newburg, WI.
Jean was united in marriage on June 25, 1955, to the late Robert C. Zeckmeister at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newburg. In 1964, Jean and Bob moved to their parents’ home and farmed as their family grew. Bob preceded Jean in death on February 15, 1988.
In 1991, she moved to West Bend. She worked for the West Bend school district in the cafeteria. Her favorite job was at the Cedar Lake Home and spoke often of her time there and the friends she made. After retirement, she continued to enjoy volunteering for the Cedar Community. She enjoyed travelling with her friend, Marian on bus trips and even to Germany. She loved going to the Fireside in Ft. Atkinson for the Christmas programs with her family.
In 1998, she became a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in West Bend where she has been blessed with wonderful friends and Rev. Darren Knoll that visited her at home when she was homebound.
Jean was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her four children: Barbara (Howard) Wienholtz, Nancy (Brian) Zirbel, Dennis (Gail) Zeckmeister, Tracy (Kevin) Kisch; her beloved grandchildren: Bradlee (Niki Patel) Wienholtz, Sawyer Zirbel, Morgan (Adrian) Klessig, McKenna (Timothy) Dewey, Grace Kisch, Lillian Kisch, and Desmond Kisch. Her beloved step grandchildren: Erica (Dan) Abfall, Tyler (Nikki) Zirbel.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (6869 Wildwood Road, West Bend, WI 53090) from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 Noon. Rev. Darren Knoll will officiate the service. A private graveside service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Newburg. The family would like to thank her friend Margaret DeGueme for her compassion, friendship, and caregiving.
The family asks that donations be made to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or Horizon Home Care and Hospice.
